How to Set Up Rain and Snow Alerts on iPhone

Apple has been improving its weather app to give it a major redesign with the jump to iOS 15. Accurate, with a lot of information and with a somewhat hidden option that is tremendously useful: rain and snow alerts. Do you want to activate them? We tell you how.

Accessing the weather forecast is one of the acts that we carry out the most on the mobile; beyond accessing messaging and social networks, of course. Open the weather app, see the current temperature and how it will progress throughout the day, also what the weather will be like for a specific time and place: for this information, no app is required if you have an iPhone. Now, what if you wanted to find out when a rain episode is coming? You don’t need an app either.

The weather app has rain and snow alerts notifications

You may not have known that Apple introduced upcoming rain warnings within its weather app. Integrated into the notification system of the app, to activate said rain warning, simply go to the menu of the relevant application.

The process is suitable for recent versions of iOS, including the latest, iOS 15. To activate the rain alarm, simply perform the following steps:

  • Turn on Always location from Settings > Privacy > Location > Weather .
  • Open the iPhone weather app.
  • Click on the icon of the horizontal lines, the lower right. This will display all the locations you have saved.
  • Once you have the list on the screen, press the menu button, the one with the three points (top right).
  • Select the “Notifications” option.
  • Activate the rain and snow Alerts for the current location and your iPhone will notify you when there is a nearby weather event. It should also let you know when it’s over.
  • You may need to turn on the always access location permission. Your iPhone will offer you the option to activate it.
  • In the event that you have more locations saved, you may have the option to activate the notifications for them as well. It’s up to you.

Once you have the alarms active, you will not have to constantly monitor whether it is going to rain or not: in the event that rain is approaching your location, the weather app will notify you. It is a very simple way to keep up with the weather. And without installing applications: iOS itself hides the option in the weather app.
