iPhone ECID

iPhone ECID: Sometimes you may need to know the Exclusive Chip Identifier (ECID for short) of your iPhone or iPad. The process for finding your phone’s ECID will differ depending on your operating system, whether you have a Mac or a Windows PC. In this guide, we will show you how to find out your ECID on all operating systems.

What is ECID for?

Most regular iPhone users will never need an ECID, but if you decide to downgrade the firmware in a non-standard way, using an SHSH signature or using signing status apps like MobileTSS, then you may need to find your device’s ECID.

An Exclusive Chip Identifier (ECID) is a special code used to identify the chip inside your deviceThere cannot be two identical ECIDs. ECID is not the same as UDID, UDID is a unique device identifier.

How to Find Your iPhone’s ECID on macOS

Now that macOS uses the Finder instead of iTunes to manage the connected iPhone, it’s harder to find the device’s ECID. We recommend using checkra1n instead. This is a jailbreak tool where you can see the ECID of your iPhone and see if it is jailbreak compatible. Here is how to find ECID in checkra1n:

1) Download and install checkra1n. Here is the only official website of checkra1n:

https://checkra.in/

2) Open the checkra1n app:

Note: If you are running it for the first time, you may need to add checkra1n to trusted apps in System Preferences → Security & Privacy as the developer is not verified by Apple. To do this, click on the “Open anyway” option.

3) Connect your iPhone to your Mac using a Lightning to USB cable.

Note: You may need to click “Trust iPhone” on Mac and “Trust Mac” on iPhone. Do it right away.

4) Your iPhone’s ECID is displayed in the checkra1n window:
