watchOS has many useful accessibility and health features, including the emergency call feature. Life is very unpredictable, so you should set up this feature to be ready for unexpected twists and turns. With it, you can always call for help as quickly as possible.

How do emergency calls work on Apple Watch? When you activate the feature, your smartwatch will automatically call the local emergency services and send them your location if possible. Your emergency contact will be sent a message with your current location so they can go to your rescue.

In some countries, there are several emergency services available, from which you will need to choose one. Here’s how to set up emergency calls on your Apple Watch!

How to activate an emergency call on Apple Watch

If your Apple Watch doesn’t have network coverage, then the watch will need to be close to your iPhone. If there is no smartphone nearby, then the watch should be connected to a familiar Wi-Fi network.

Step 1:  Hold down the side button of the watch until the slider  “Emergency Call – SOS” appears on the screen .

Step 2:  Pull the slider to start an emergency call.

After the countdown, your Apple Watch will automatically call emergency services. After the call ends, the smartwatch will send a message to your emergency contact with your current location.

If you have location services turned off, an emergency call will turn them on temporarily. For a short time after an emergency call, your Apple Watch will send your location to emergency contacts.

After an emergency call, your Apple Watch will display a message every four hours that your location is available to your emergency contacts. If you no longer want to share the location, you can disable the feature directly through the notification.
