Mastering Instagram Privacy: How to Share Exclusive Content with One Person
In the expansive realm of social media, Instagram has become a powerhouse for sharing moments, stories, and creative expressions. While the platform encourages widespread sharing, there are moments when you might want to connect with just one specific person, offering them an exclusive view into your digital world. In this article, we unveil the simple yet effective steps to tailor your Instagram posts, stories, or Reels for the eyes of one individual rather than broadcasting to your entire followership. By making a small adjustment to your sharing habits, you can curate content for that special someone, ensuring a more personalized and intimate online experience. Let’s delve into the process of sharing with precision on Instagram, as we guide you through the steps of posting content for just one person, fostering a closer connection in the world of social media.
In this article, we’ll show you how to share photos, videos, or text on Instagram Stories, Reels, or posts with one specific person rather than all your followers. With one small change, you can share content with several close friends instead of just one person.
How to Post on Instagram for One Person
The process consists of two simple steps, which we will discuss below.
Step 1: Add the person to your close friends list
1) Open the Instagram app and tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
2) At the top right, tap the three-bar menu icon and select Close Friends.
3) Mark the account of the person you need in the list.
4) Now click on “Done“. However, before doing so, make sure that other people on the list are not checked. There should only be one person left on the list for whom you want to publish content. If you want to share something with a few friends, tag them as well.
Step 2: Post a story, video reels, or post to close friends
Now that your list consists of the one person you need, all that’s left to do is publish a post for close friends.
1) Tap the plus (+) icon in the Instagram app and choose whether you want to post, story, or Reels.
2) Now, as usual, create your post, story, or video.
3) On the final screen, select “Close Friends” before posting.
- For a post, you need to click “Audience” and select “Close Friends”. Then, tap Done > Share.
- For a story, simply select “Close Friends” before posting.
- For Reels videos, the process is the same as for a regular post. Tap “Audience” and select “Close Friends”.
When a post or story is published, all you have to do is wait for the person you want to see it.
If the story disappears sooner, you can post it again. You won’t need to set up your close friends list again, just post the story to your close friends.
When the right person sees your post, story, or video, they’ll also see a green star or the caption “Close Friends.” That way, he’ll know that this post isn’t for everyone, but only for the list of close friends he’s on.
However, the person won’t know who else is on your close friends list. He’ll never know that you’ve published content just for him.
