Xiaomi has put its new gadget up for sale in China: it is called Mi Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker and as its name implies it is an outdoor speaker. It has the IP Resistance Certificate 55, which means that the column withstands water splashing from any as well as dust and debris.
The speaker has a minimalist design, as is common with most Xiaomi products. It is all covered in black ‘mesh’ with a gray top. The buttons are at the top of the speaker as well as an orange braided carry handle.
The most interesting feature of the Mi Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker is its charging socket. Unlike the overwhelming majority of speakers on the market, it has a USB-C port. USB-C inputs are becoming more common and more and more users have mobile phones with this input and their cables.
Xiaomi says the speaker has 8 hours of continuous playback time, with your battery of 2600 mAh. At sound level, we have drivers of 52 mm and 2 built-in microphones for calls. However Xiaomi did not share its wattage.
Mi Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker price and availability
Compared With other speakers in the brands market like Sony or JBL, the Mi Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker has a fantastic price: 28 dollars. However, I have my doubts if the speaker will have good sound quality at this price.
Regarding availability, the speaker is only available from online stores in China. However, as is usual with Xiaomi products, an international version should eventually reach the rest of the world.
